Skynet.be did it again!

Nobody messes with skynet (a Belgium provider)
Some weeks ago, there were some problems with their servers, some funky virus got into the system.
They claim it was 'not an evil' virus  but just to make sure, they sent every DSL customer a complete version of Norton antivirus/firewall/parent control/...

how's that for a promotion stunt? only a few other providers CAN do this, an they even don't want to

/me is one happy fragger :D

do you have a standard ADSL subscription or the 1Mbit version? I haven't received anything from skynet yet...:(

Bosw8er 12th June 2002 15:35

You only get it for free if you have a "plus" version.

Not forget that we all got this message after shipment of the first free version :
Dear customer,

You dispose of the Security Pack with therein a user’s licence for the Norton Internet Security 2002 software.

We have recently learned that this CD-Rom contains an inactive virus (W95.Hybris.gen). We ensure you that the source of infection can not be imputed to the Norton internet Security 2002. A deeper investigation should enable us to define the cause of the infection. The virus cannot activate itself. It is only present on the CD-Rom and cannot infect your pc.

hehe, an anti-virus security pack WITH virus ... FREE !

No, that's not true.
I got it twice (at my father's and my mother's) and both subscriptions are standard.

That is indeed true ... but only under normal circunstances ! :-) (the damn censurisation wont allow "circunstances" with C U M instead of C U N :p)

This time (and I followed the whole goddamn soap) skynet got into trouble with their webspace ftp servers, which wasnt a loved fact among the members.
Therefor, skynet sent us (even the std abo's) a complete free version of norton internet security ! :D

Btw, it is a while ago since their servers weren't functioning properly, but you know, time isn't of any importance for them for such things, so that's why I (and duron) reveived it recently ...

(for the second time btw, the first seems to be infected with some malicious piece of code, and therefor they sent another version - check the red "New Version" label on the cd-box)

Yup, I got an email than, but it slipped out of my mind so I didnt think about it anymore afterwards ...

And NOW they came along with that new CD, that was discussed in an email 2 months ago, like ARGH ! :p

So actually this news CD is the substitute of that first cd, which was infected somehow with a virus, but I didn't even notice that. :)
Beware, they say in that letter to throw away the first cdrom, and thats because the risky thingies on it, but still, I didnt notice it, so do whatever you feel like ...

(allthough their delay I'm happy with this 70€ valued suite of Norton :D)

um, read the second paragraph of the mail I posted first will yah ;)
