Previous card was a Sis Xabre 400 (7000 3dmarks), so yes. It's faster.

I used to have a R9500 softmodded to a r9700. It's not noticably faster in current games, but it manages to run at a far higher clock so i consider the r9800 to be a far more futureproof buy, for just a little higher price. It is much faster than my ti4200, especially with FSAA enabled.

And a Zalman hp50 can keep that thing cool?? How tha heck is that possible... Hmm then I might keep my Hp80.
No, it does not manage to keep the r9800 chip cool. It's glowing hot, even a bit hotter than with the stock cooler. It doesn't seem to hurt stability: i've had no artifacts yet at Pro speeds (380/340), but i have a blowhole right next to my VGA card, which keeps the zalman hp50 from melting. I would never cool it with a hp50 without a fan blowing on it, but i think the hp80 will do just fine.

Did you have to order it at compu-square or was it in stock?
compu-square never has expensive cards on stock, but they have an excellent service. I had mine in 2 days.

Also, is it possible to reinstall such a Zalman pipe? I used all thermal paste for this card, but I have plenty of thermalpaste lying around here. I could use any kind of paste as long as I clean the pipe up first, right?
Sure, it's just a ****** to clean.

To reattach the old cooler to the card, will I need some kind of "sticky" thermalpaste, like the one it was originaly attached with? Or does normal thermal paste do the job too?

Also, is the normal cooler of that r9800 loud? I want a system that is as silent as possible, so if the cooler isn't that loud, I won't need to install the heatpipe on it.

Gonna give the store a call tomorrow, hope they have it in stock.
Did you get it your self in the store or does 2 days mean you ordered it and 2 days later you got it in your mail?

Thx RichB,
you've been a great help

Normal thermal paste does the job.

The r9800 is pretty loud, but bareable. If you want a silent system you'll need to replace it.

it took two days to arrive in the store, but except a longer waiting period. They're pretty hard to get, but popular.

Ok, urgent question. Just called compu-square, now I have a question.

Is it possible to safely attach a Zalman Heatpipe (HP80) to a Radeon 9800 pro card??

Thx!
