Is "his" a good brand ? Do they use good cooling on their cards ?

Design seems very close to ati's reference design

My brother has a HIS 8500 Retail. Not very fond of it: driver issues and fan died after 3 months.

If you want to spend a little more, i'd suggest the Xelo (cheap, but quality) 9700 PRO at a whopping 330 eur at snogard.de!

The only radeon around that price at snogard is a 9700, not a 9700 Pro. Probably an error on their count.
Besides, snogard is _far_

Funcomputer has some cheapo 9700Pro's too , and they ship to .be!

I don't intend to spend €400 or more on a graka.
€200-300 should get me a decent enough card to be able to play the latest games and most future games for a while.
This is more of a principle question than a budgetary one(13th month

), but I remember spending over 20k bfr's for a GF3 classic and what i got out of it afterwards.
State of the art is fun, however I think you pay way too much for it's actual value.

The POWERCOLOR Radeon 9700 @ €309,99 seems very well priced though

found a decently priced connect 3d 9700 in Belgium.

cvs the 9700 is not on the pricelist though, but at 310 i don't think i'm paying too much

And it's like 20 km from here

Chances are I'll even get the card friday
