Need Cooling Advice

I have an EPOX 9NDA3J MOBO and just ordered an Opteron 144 CPU. Now I need some suggestions on a CPU cooler. I've heard and read much and am norrowed down to the Big Typhoon (not sure if it will fit my MOBO) Xp-90 XP 120 or an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64.

Anyone have any experience with this mobbo and any of these?

All opinions wanted/welcome.

Thanks

Zalman CNPS 7000, Apparently the 7700 won't fit, but the 7000 is still a very good option.

Of all the coolers you mentioned, the XP90 or the XP120 would be my reccomendation.

Zalman 7000/7700 have long been outclassed by the newer coolers, including the XP-90/120, even the latest Zalman (9500?) is no match to Scythe's top offering (Ninja)

the Freezer 64 in your list is the most "plug and play" option, with included silent fan. The other require a bit more research to couple them with a good fan.

I stopped recommending Zalman about 1.5 years ago

Apart from the 7700's nasty rattle, I still stand by them.
But I haven't had need for a new cooler is some time.
When I think about it, they are hell to clean and rarely fit a S929 mobo because the CPU is too close to the AGP/PCIX slot.

I don't really like the heatpipe tower type of cooler, effective as it may be. Not good for moving with all the force being put on the components.

The Freezer PRO also comes very cheap, you don't get even a decent fan for that money when using the XP-120 here.

I even consider ditching the XP-120 for it once I upgrade o_O

GET WATER COOLING
For what ever it's worth, I'm hooked on water cooling.

nothing beats plug and playability of a air cooled HSF of course:)

water cooling remains a risk
