still, you'll loose screen estate compared to similar "inch" model with 4:3

Not when you figure in that widescreen is closer to the human vision, especially the good motion detection ability at the sides. Human eyes couldn't use that much height on a screen.

I can only get a 20" 4:3 display for that money as well.


there is only widescreen if you get a new LCD (and yes I did see gaming on widescreens)

19" TFT wide next to 17"TFT (both samsung) next to each other here. I like the widescreen one a bit more .

you're stuck with black bars at the sides and some lost screensize


well, I neither got a DVD player nor a big TV

Widescreen is okay, but I don't like it with certain games. Great with widescreen movie, I do watch movie occasionally from my PCs. Get two

If you can't see, go to an eye doctor first.

Ok that's a valid point. But not everyone has an HDTV you know Jmke
