HD Speed results thread Tx to bosw8er for the idea.. In this thread we take the program HD Speed (direct link here ) from Steelbytes Open the exe (13 kB), run default test (read) In the drive combobox, u can choose your driver or partition (partition is just the c: for example, the drive is at the bottom, called \\PHYSICALDRIVEX (X starting at 0) Here are my results: Drive 1: IBM Deskstar 40 gb ATA100 7200 rpm: Average of 46 MB/S Drive 2: Maxtor 40gb ATA100 7200 rpm: Average of 36 MB/S Drive 3: Old Western Digital 10gb ATA33 5400 rpm: Average of 13 MB/S Quite interesting to see the IBM disk being faster than the Maxtor.. |
MSI K7T - Amd1800 - 512mb RAM hoe lang laat je die test lopen? Seagate Barracuba 28gb ATA66 5400RPM = 22 Mb/s Maxtor 40gb ATA100 7200 rpm = 37,8 MB/S |
I don't think it's an accurate benchmark. The scores for the raid 0 array are almost equal to the backup disk (20 GB - 5400 rpm) .. around 36 to 38000, whereas there is a clear difference in HDtach and Sandra. |
I just got a little bit under the theoretic speed of a ATA100 7200rpm hdd, with my Maxtor D740X 60GB @ ATA100 ! :-) |
PII 350 Mhz - 320 Mb SDRAM Maxtor DiamondMax 60 ATA100 (although it could be that this motherboard only handles up to ATA66): 15.8 Mb/sec  New PC is on it's way, it should be here in 3-5 days :). 3 Ghz here i come :) (and +- 40 Mb/sec too off course :p). |
