Default Harddisk test - SisoftSandra 2004

Hi,

would you guys be so kind to run the HDtest of SisoftSandra 2004 on your harddisks and tell me how much your disk scores on "random read"? (in MB/s)

Please alse include the brand+type of your harddisk (and if possible your systemconfig too)

Thanks!

Ow, and BTW: is Sandra still add-supported?

Ow crap, I did open the article this evening to see if I couldn't find any random read numbers, but didn't see them then..

Yeap well, post your numbers anywayz

MOD: I know why I didn't see them: I looked @the wrong page (only looked @Sisoft Sandra page )

MOD2: it seems I'll have to use 512K as the stripesize on my RAID5 config..

And it also seems 7MB/s is ok for a 7200RPM drive (noraid)

uhm you can't compare a RAID0 with a RAID5 setup directly, you'll have to find out for yourself what the best stripesize will be

@ TerA: "SiSoft Sandra MAX3" same as the topic title either way, the latest was used for my HD benches. but SS is not very reliable anyways for the HD benches, better to track the ideal speed with some file copy actions, and other random benchmark programs

I needed these numbers because I read a small article about Samsung disks.. They managed to pull 7MB/s in random read.. Just wanted to know how much other brands (Seagate, IBM, WD, Maxtor) would pull.. Random read is pretty important for a busy FTP..
