It may be old news to a few of you, but there's a thread over at the Guru3D forums describing how you can flash the BIOS of your FX5900 - ultra or otherwise - to become an FX5950 Ultra. The method appears to work fine with boards from most manufactuers, whether they are 5900 Ultras, 5900's or XT / LE models.Most people are reporting a good deal of sucess in doing so; their cards accept the new BIOS without much trouble and there's an overall increase in performance for them. |
I've BIOS flashed my card (a Leadtek A350) and it's been all good - no anomalies or graphical corruption, just better performance. Of course, results will vary from card to card and system to system, but as long as you know what you are doing (and the attendant risks) then I'd encourage you to try.
