I've a Gigabyte P35 DQ6 and I'm very happy with it.

X38 boards not yet mature, I'd stay with p35 at the moment

Both boards are excellent. X38-DQ6 is better solution for future because PCl2.0, DDR3..., but you won't miss with P35-DQ6 which is cheaper.

I have exchanged the mainboard for the X38-DQ6, I was getting really tired of the striker extreme problems.

Good choice some have got this board to 550MHz some cannot get past 425MHz I think it depends on many things. I know you need to get air flow over its extensive heat-pipe system because these new chipsets seem to be running hot.

This site was dissapointed they only attained 517FSB

mmm how about s755 micro atx mainboard?

I think it is rather silly to be disappointed at 517FSB. Most CPU's never make it that high before running out of steam, and you lose performance by dropping the CPU multipler and raising the FSB to compensate. After looking over their review, I would suspect their choice of RAM, specifically the RAM frequency and the memory ratio used for it.

P35-DQ6 Rev 1 got a E6300 7 x 542FSB 24 hour prime stable. Q6600 will do 9 x 400FSB, but in both cases are the absolute limits of the CPU... With the Q6600 it boots at 3.7Ghz or 4.2Ghz but only two of the four cores work, loading the two bad cores results in a instant hard reboot.

Slvrl7, the only mATX Intel boards seem to be those with integrated graphics, like G33.
