Farewell, adieu, auf wiedersehen

After several weeks of giving it some thought, I've finally decided to stop with overclocking. The decission wasn't an easy one. There are several reasons but the most important ones are time and money. Over the past year I've renewed my interest in my other passion - model railroading. With 2 small kids, remoddeling work in our house and an ever more demanding full time job, there's simply not enough time (and money) for 2 expensive hobbies.

I'll miss the thrill of benching, I won't miss all the frustration that came with it.
Best years were 2012-2013, using my 2600K/3770K setups and gathering countless GPU HW points. Winning the 2013 HWbot team cup was also special. Sadly after my cascade system broke down at the end of 2013 and loss of my LN2 source things eventually came to a stop.

I'll also miss the fun I had hanging out with the other madshrimps team members at events and at Tones, though I'll check in from time to time to see how they're doing on HWbot.

So keep an eye on the 9lives forum in the comming months, as I'll be selling of most of my HW collection. There'll be CPU's, GPU's, PSU's, Mobo's, RAM, Dewar, LN2 pots, Water cooling, ... from very old to fairly new stuff.

Of course madshrimpies have first choice, so if there's anything in particular you're looking for, let me know.

CU around...

Verschillende systemen:

OC has lost it's appeal for me when I didn't see any real world benefit anymore (around 2006-2007), and OC for benchmarks is not my cup of tea, although HWbot does keep people addicted with their cups :)

I've done model RC cars now (1:10 and 1:8) which is a money pit too, put that on the after burner for now
model train cars is also a passion ,but limited to virtual sets, openttd is the favorite, don't have the room to deploy real world sets.

that and tech in general keeps the money flowing ;)
Oculus Rift, self made racing rig, Thrustmaster T500: simracing as never before, waiting for buttkicker for some bass feedback :D

keep on trucking(choo-choo-ing?) Teemto, you're always welcome here

Thx Jmke. Btw Z-scale or even N-scale doesn't take up that much space ;-)
The modelexpo in Leuven of a few weeks ago had some really nice small layouts as well.

AHAHAHA, they are doing a "total recall" AHAHAHAHAHA

seriously though, this DK2 is da bomb, been watching movies in the biggest movie theater, racing with Assetto Corsa on nurburgring, Flying over mountains, immersion is top notch!

have tried a few horror/spooky games, but oh my, not my forté, noped the f*ck out of those real quick :D

geoffrey 1st March 2015 13:06

I've been testing DK1 in Germany, where I was immersed in a virtual car. Really cool, but I have to say that the resolution is too low for these days, it's good DK2 came and more is to come...

jmke 3rd March 2015 14:38

DK1 resolution is poop compared to DK2
CV1 will not be that much higher resolution wise (no 4K yet) but the shape of the lenses and the matrix of the screen will help remove the screen door effect.

DK2 is enough to read text at close-medium range
those that tested CV1 said it is good to see details at long range.

HTC and Valve just announced their own VR headset, so there will be competition :D

geoffrey 5th March 2015 07:59
