Default Buying a new laptop very important question?

Hi every one.
I am starting the university in the end of September and I want to buy a laptop.
I want to buy it before I enter in the unif.
I heard that the new intel core 2 will be out soon.
When it will be actually available in store?
And if not, which laptop should I buy and will be possible to upgrade to a new merom?

Machines using the desktop chips will be available in early August, said Intel, while notebooks will become available at the end of that month.
