I read in an older thread that it's basically a matter of preference: some like the msi neo2 platinum, others like the asus a8v (rev2) better but these boards are going through so many little physical revisions and/or bios revisions and I'm not following the A64 scene closely eather, so that may no longer be true.

I would for the next gen chips from VIA & nVidia to see how they compare;

What is there known already about these chips?

- do they have a "native" SATA controller onboard?
- will there be a possibility to buy a nforce4 board with 8x AGP ?
- will there be a possibility to buy that board, with still PCIe slots/bus, because otherwise those 2 gigabit LAN ports will run very poorly on my PCI-bus ?

OR : Is it best to buy a S939 NF3 Ultra rightaway, with a 0.09µm A64?

I already have a x800XT on AGP, I'm not looking forward to selling it, to get me a PCI-X model that won't even run faster... So I'd like to go to S939, WITH AGP, AND all the other advantages that those new chipsets will offer (sata300, dual gigabit on PCIe, ...), even if such a board will cost me 150+ euro's. ;)

MSI neo2 platinum or Epox 9NDA3+ , the Epox is slightly faster even on standard speeds , however , the MSi is cheaper , and as for ocing , they both get up tot 300 fsb .

and the abit?

You mean the AX8 , with via chipset ? Even a month after release , they didn't hit the retail market yet , and i didn't find anny intresting reviews . Besides , via :puke: , don't realy like boards with via chipsets . And as for the announced nforce4 fatality board , no news for the moment .

Meaning -> if you want AGP, you'll have to go for NForce3 ULTRA in stead of Nforce4 ?
Also meaning : boards with PCIx will never feature AGP?

oh, there probably will be some. Just like there were s748/s775 combo boards...

and if there aren't, I believe it was in one of the newsposts that it was mentioned that ati will be pushing their pcx lines but will also make an adapter that allows you to plug your pcx card into an agp slot.

don't ask me how they'll make that work physically though...
