www.storagereview.com

Cuda5 IS more silen then cuda 4
by quite a mergin too might I add.

And another thing.
NGM and NGML have the same output.
NGM is ball bearing while NGML is sleeve bearing.
Ballbearings supposedly last longer, but sleeve bearings are much more quiet.
Anyway, I've got NGML as casefan, but I still 7V them because they are still too loud for my tastes. (louder then CNPS 7000@max)

Ok I found a review of the Maxtor drive :

http://www.hothardware.com/hh_files/...lus9sata.shtml

Here it says that this drive is idd even more quiet than the Seagate, and a lot faster. So this would be my ideal drive... 2 of these babies in Raid 0 should kick some serieus arse

Only problem : Where do they sell them.
Tones and Comtech only sell the 120 Gig version, which is a bit too much for me. ( Costs a lot more and I don't need 240 Gig )
So I'll be needing the 80 Gig version.

@Freestyler : I own 2 NGML's and I must say I cannot here them... My 2 Enermax fans are louder @ lowest speed...

Anyone got info on fitting the SLK 900 on the 8RDA3+?

Greetz...

Alrighty, Maxtor 80Gig SATA on stock @ Tones.

Another question.

Same system, but instead of AMD a P4 2800 ( 800MHz ) + Canterwood mobo. Is this a lot faster than the XP 2800+?
( in gaming that is )

Also, which CPU is the "hottest"?

Thx!!

OK ppl, this is what I am certainly going to get :

2 x TWINMOS DDR 512MB 400Mhz PC3200
1 x CHIEFTEC DRAGON Maxi met deur SILVER DA-01SL-D NO PSU
1 x PAPST 3412NGL 92mm 35.9CFM (1950RPM) RPM monitor en connector
1 x PAPST 8412NML 80mm 26.5CFM (2050RPM) BALL BEARING
2 x MAXTOR 80GB 8MB SATA (7200/150) 6Y080M0
1 x THERMALRIGHT SLK 900-U (zonder fan)

Now I've got only one problem left... Intel or AMD.

For AMD I was thinking this mobo :

EPOX 8RDA3+ (NFORCE2, AGP8X, Dual Channel 400, 5PCI, SOUND, USB2.0, Firewire, LAN)

+ XP 3000+ or 2800+

For Intel :

ASUS P4P800 DELUXE (Intel 865PE, P4 478 800FSB, SATA, 4DDR Dual Channel PC3200, 5PCI, SOUND, Firewire, Gigabit 3COM LAN)

+ PIV 2800 ( 800MHz FSB )

Questions :

1/ Which of these will give best performance in gaming? ( Is the 3000+ faster than the 2800 PIV? )
2/ Which of these will run coolest? ( with SLK 900 + 92mm )
3/ What will be app. temps?
4/ The 2800 Intel, does it have HyperThreading? Or will future 2800's have HT?

I've read quite a lot of reviews, but I still can't find a decent short answer...

I like Intel more because of mainbord ( 4DDR, better Raid ... )
Amd well... cuz they're cheaper...

This is last question. Help me out here !

Thx in advance,
Greetz.

4/ I think all P4 with 800 fsb have HT ( but I'm not sure)

edit: checked it and all 800fsb have HT enabled, and also P3.06 533fsb has HT enabled

correct

the P4 2.4C (800FSB) is the one to get if you plan to overclock and want best bang for the buck

Thx! Are all 800MHz PIV "model C" ?

Do you think I can overclock with that heatsink / ram / fan /mobo combo? If yes, how far could I get a 2.4 without ANY risk?
( complete noob @ OC, don't wanna spoil my expensive hardware ) ie no volt mods, no higher voltages, no "unlocking" ( although I think intels are unlocked, right? )

AND ( very important ) this is a CPU that's gonna last for a while, not planning to upgrade anymore in near future. So it's an investment, and I DON'T want to reduce the CPU's life by OC'ing...

Anywho, I'm not to fond of OC, so @ default speed, which would be the best? 2800+ or 3000+ or 2.8 Gig Intel?

And how would that 2.8 Gig intel OC, with this hardware ofcourse? ( I couldn't help asking  )

Intel are locked
you should get 2.8 without probs with the 2.4C (c means 800fsb, b = 533 , a = 400)

Ok...
And what's the deal with stock speeds? Cuz I don't think I'll be overclocking anyway...
( I know it's hard to understand for u OC'ers but hey, it's a question like any other )
