I just discovered that Hyperthreading isn't working on my new with Chaintech 9CJS rig. Even though, on boot, it reads, Hyperthreading enabled.

My Windows Task Manager, Performance, only shows one CPU. Control Panel, System, Hardware, Devices, Processor, only shows one processor, however under Computer it reads ACPI MultiProcessor PC.

In Windows Task Manager, Performance, it only shows one processor.

Any tricks to getting this working correctly?

Was HT enabled while installing Windows ? I tought it should be.

Yes. I recall that the boot screen was set for default hyperthreading enabled. I recall being relived to see that I didn't have tp do anything. Then I installed XP Home.

XP home doesn't support dual cpu systems, install XP Pro

Would I notice much of a performance difference if I don't have any dual processor specific applications?

There is a performance difference when you are multitasking a lot, meaning that no single application will be speedier then before, but if you use a lot of programs at the same time you will notice a speed increase over the single CPU setup. It won't we earth shattering, but quite noticable none the less. it speeds up day to day usage of the PC (encoding, file extracting, browsing, gaming, .. all at the same time at a faster pace then the none-HT system)

Thanks, I discovered that somehow hyperthreading had become disabled. Via, BIOS setting I enabled it and voila, I now have the two CPU Usage History graphs in Windows Task Manager, Performance.

hmm weird, Home XP doesn't support fully fledged dual CPU systems, guess it sees the HT enabled CPU as one?
