865PE on stock in japanese stores and... tones.be??

"MSI 865PE NEO2-LS" on stock at tones. ???

If that isn't a typing error, i'm amazed. Springdale motherboards aren't supposed to hit the market until may.

This board seems to be a pre-released board under NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement). This means there will be no support for it until it is officially announced/released by intel (22may or so). Al dividers (ram/agp/pci...) seem to be locked in the bios and there will be no updated bios until the end of may. You can check this info on overclockers.com forums where some have tested this MSI 865PE NEO2 sjit. Apparently it even has problems running default fsb. Not Recommended.

Greetz, Svekke.

jmke 27th April 2003 13:48

do you have a link to these tests? :)

Quote Tical

The 875 or "Canterwood" chipset doesn't apply because it's NDA already expired & the chipset has been offically announced. The 865 or "Springdale" chipset NDA is still in effect though. OEM's of course get preferential treatment from Intel, but board manufacturers are bound to whatever rules Intel sets & will be punished for breaking NDA's as they are legal & binding. You will see loads of different Canterwood boards by the end of this month & the Springdale boards will come in full force by the end of May. Tical has spoken.

Here is the direct quote I'm referring to.

"According to our sources from our friends in Taiwan, one manufacturer(MSI?) rushed out their 865 Springdale boards way before the NDA expires in May. This company has been slapped on the wrist and it is rumoured that the company will have to pay a penalty for this act. Unconfirmed news says that the company will not be supplied with more new chipsets until until 21st May (launch day)."
