wanted: buyers for 80W pelts

I know most of ous have a phase changed cooling system, but almost none (yes Gamer, you do :) ) have a decent cooling setup for their vidcard.

Most "mad" OC'ers use a HēO & 80W pelt for their vidcard. Since they're pretty expensive in Be (€60 @ loveno) i was thinking of buying OPP's 480W waterchiller .

It has been on sale since april and isn't sold yet. It uses 6 80W pelts and we can get it for ~€150 incl shipping (that's €25 a piece ladies and gentlemen :) ). I'd buy it right away but 6 pelts seem a bit like an overkill. :)

Anyone from Benelux interested?

fredperry 4th June 2002 18:46

Well, I'm interested, but just can't tell you now if I'm in :(
(exams, money,...)
I'll let you know :)

The Senile Doctor 4th June 2002 18:50

how did he use this thing... 8 pelts??? where to put them...

no problem, I can finance this piece of equipent if needed. you make the deal, i pay the stuff, and we split it up afterwards.

RichBa5tard 4th June 2002 19:13

@Calantak:
3 80 watt pelts on each site = water temps below 0C... *sweet*

Thank you for willing to finance it, if I could cough up the entire sum I'd pay it and sell those 80W pelts later, but I'm short on cash the 8500 accident. :)

I'm only interested in the pelts though, not in the slot 1 coldplates. I'm gonna ask whether he's willing to dismantle the thing and only ship the pelts, it would save quite a lot of shipping costs.

Keep you guys posted. :)

Gamer 4th June 2002 19:31

same here if needed.

The Senile Doctor 4th June 2002 19:37

just ask opp how much it would come shipped, if that's reasonable, we get the whole load!

RichBa5tard 4th June 2002 19:48

Overseas shipping is easy, I do it all the time to hong kong.
So shipping to Belgium is no prob. :)

I asked whether it's a big difference in s&h if he ships it without the coldplates. Can anyone do something usefull with those coldplates?

4 potential buyers (me, Calantak, Gamer, fredperry) in less than an hour, I guess 2 more wouldn't be hard to find. I'm gonna order it as soon as he replies. :)

RichBa5tard 4th June 2002 19:53

Just read that someone @B2OC wants to buy the last 2. :)

Edit:
s&h costs 26$ which makes the total cost 151$ or €170 (€28 a pelt, still half the price of what we pay here.).

Package should arrive in 2-3 days :o

Neato, now I just got to figure out how pay pal works. :)

Gamer 4th June 2002 20:05

I'v got a 80 watt pelt, maybe next price for madshrimps ?

jmke 4th June 2002 20:13

interested!
need to change cooling to something with less air-movement :)

RichBa5tard 4th June 2002 20:20

I told OPP i'm gonna buy it, just waiting for Paypal's confirmation of my account... could take a few days.

GORGH 4th June 2002 20:52

can i use a 80w pelt under a maze3?

The Senile Doctor 4th June 2002 20:56

no use... for a cpu I think you need more power, especially when overclocking which I know you will do

biCker 4th June 2002 23:15

That's the problem when you work late, you miss all the bargains I hope i have better luck next time.
:(

RichBa5tard 4th June 2002 23:22

I sold two under conditional promise: I'll see you get one bicker ;)

By the way:
:ws: OPP :ws:
He's (probably) gonna send a 8500 Retail box too, because he heard I couldn't get warranty without one. Now that's what I call a nice gesture. :super:

biCker 4th June 2002 23:38

great, thx !!

RichBa5tard 5th June 2002 05:57

Thanks OPP :super:

I'll keep you posted when PayPal activates my account. If it takes too long I'll send you the money by snail mail.

Gamer 5th June 2002 06:26

Aren't they slot A waterblocks? If so sign me up for one (price?)

RichBa5tard 5th June 2002 10:40

Beki, I'll let you know when it arrives. :)

vegeta 5th June 2002 13:22

RichBa5tard 5th June 2002 20:56

2 = no go, 1, perhaps :)

OPPAINTER 6th June 2002 04:11

RichBa5tard,

Shipped out your stuff today, that baby wieghed in at almost 5 pounds:D
I used a Radeon box and it has all the Radeon stuff in it that comes with the card, driver disk, connectors, all that stuff, just throw your card in there and your good to go.

OPP

RichBa5tard 6th June 2002 04:21

OPP,

Damn, you might as well had put in an actuall R8500 in there too! =) j/k

Thanks a lot, there's no way they can refuse to give me garanty now! :ws:

FYI: my previous payment with my VISA card took 8 days to be registered, so I'm guessing it would take equally long for me to get registered at PayPal.

ok, i'll take one. if the other one becomes available i'm intersted ;)

biCker 7th June 2002 23:57

I was just looking into the pelt-stuff, and it seems you also need a thing called "cold-plate"? Are they really necessary ore more an improvement?

RichBa5tard 8th June 2002 00:27

They're really necessary: pelts need a lot of pressure to work decently. You'll need a copper plate so you squeeze the pelt between your HS/WB and the plate.

biCker 8th June 2002 00:35

k thx, next question: what size is best: 1,2 or 3 mm (the thicker the more pressure i presume) and are they available in a shop here in Belgium?

vegeta 8th June 2002 15:46

g o to a do-it-yourself shop.
ask 4 red koper and some sandpaper and lap it.
make some holes (i assume u have driller???; don't know word for "boor")
and u have yourself a coldplate

Gamer 8th June 2002 21:01

a cold-plate is not needed on a GPU, works better without.

got a link where they tested it, but lost it, sorry....

I seriously doubt that. A pelt needs 150 kg/cmē presure to work properly, you can't put that kind of stress directly on a gpu: you would crush it.

Doesn't hurt to try it out, we shall see in a couple days. :)

OPPAINTER 10th June 2002 21:08

RichBa5tard,

Did you get the PM I sent you??

OPP

RichBa5tard 10th June 2002 21:54

I've read it and replied, thanks a lot m8!

RichBa5tard 11th June 2002 07:30

Ok, I've got 6 80W pelts lying here:

- one for me
- one for JMke
- one for Bicker
- one for Calantak

So, Gamer & fredperry you want one or not? Just to give you an idea, my GF DDR (120Mhz GPU) peltcooled runs without hickups @ 178Mhz, that's a 48% OC ladies and gentlemen. :D

If one of you guys don't buy one, they go to B2OC & vegata.

Edit:
I payed 160 for six, so €27 a piece. Consider them yours for €30 shipping included.

biCker 11th June 2002 08:23

are you gonna test the 6 pelts together? If not, i can drop by your place in Leuven on Thursday (+/- 10.30u) and pick the pelts for jmke, calantak and myself up, if that's ok with them?

RichBa5tard 11th June 2002 09:22

That's ok by me. I'm not gonna test the six pelts together: need another PSU & pump for that. Can't wait long enough. :)

Just see you don't come to late (arf, sounds like pr0n to me :gay: ), I've got an exam at 13.30u: 10.30u would be fine. :)

Gamer 11th June 2002 18:29

I think you got buyers enough, I dont really need one RB.

sell them to the other people, they need it more than me :)
Ive got a 80 watt peltier, remember :)
was just trying to help if nobody needed it.

The Senile Doctor 11th June 2002 18:30

ok with me!
