I need it for our LAN in september this year.

giga bit RJ45 nics PCI33 aren't that expensive anymore, they can be bought for about 35 - 40 €

I don't know of anyone that would rent gigabit NICs. There is too high of chance for them to get damaged from being installed and removed all the time.

If you know it's for a lan, then you also know that the people there know how to treat hardware...
