planning to buy this screen

my CRT isn't working has it should be, so I'm planning to buy a new screen. this time I wanna buy a TFT, and I had this one in mind. IIYAMA E-431SS 17inch TCO99/450:1/16ms/DVI/Silver. I would use the screen for watching movies lot's of gaming and office appl.
Does somebody know if this is a good screen? You can also give me a sujestion if you know a better screen. Or tell me a reason I have to buy that screen.
I probably gonna buy the screen @ tones, and I'm planning to give around €485 for it. BTW, does somebody know if IIYAMA as a good garantie?

good ratio, DVI, 16ms, seems like a winner.

I think it too, but I just saw a second screen "BENQ FP767 V2 17 inch 0.264/500:1/12ms/SOUND" It's a bit cheaper than the IIYAMA, and it's looks better, but I don't think the IIYAMA is ugly so that doesn't matter. This screen has no DVI, does DVI makes a big difference?

I've got no experience with the difference between dvi and analog but if had to choose I would go for the dvi.
Also I've got an IIyama tft (as4611ut 18") and I'm very happy with it. pick the IIyama I'd say:super:

go for the IIyama

and yes dvi does make a difference, but you get used to it

I'm doubing between the Iiyame named here and the Samsung 172x. It's a bit more expensive but it's 17", 12 ms, 500:1, dvi. Is it really worth the price? Or should I take a 19", 16 ms, 500:1 but no dvi?

man, that samsung looks nice, you made me doubt :(

kr15t0f 14th August 2004 14:17

ok, I go for the samsung, read a few reviews and the samsung is :o

Glad you made up your mind.
Now I only doubt between the samsung and an acer AL1912 19"/16ms/500:1 but no dvi.

:) I would go for the samsung (gaming, movies, office) but If you watch VERY much movies maybe you can buy the 19", because it is bigger. But I think 17" is big enough if the screen is right in front of u.

IIyama has the best warranty ever

screen ****ed? next business day onsite truck, new screen, no questions asked.
(3 years ago, could have changed)

further:

Go for the IIyama e431s series, I've got one of my own, which i bought instantly after seeing the difference with a samsung 172V @ Terangreals place (not an X)
I can't imagine that another affordable 450€ tft comes near the quality of an IIyama e431s.

Hmm, on telenet they said that the samsung 710T better is then the 172x. Maybe you should take that one then. It's allmost the same specs but a newer version.

idd, I asked around and mostly all people say that IIYAMA got a good warranty. OK, I can't make a choose.

IIYAMA e431s or samsung 172x???

€40 difference, is the samsung worth that 40 euros more?
