as i said, not that they're bad cars, they are just too 'sterile' for me i don't really like the business feel of a car and although a 150hp golf is pretty fast, it still drives like a small business car it's kinda hard too explain, i hope u get my point

![]() | I don't get your point, explain what a "business car" drives like please? I've driven with an Alpha 147 also and did not like it AT ALL compared to Golf IV; the interior is amateuristic at best of the Alfa, the steering simply sucks, the gear stick feels like it will brake of any minute. Golf has nice oversteer and a beefy engine, even at 90pk it's quite fast and sporty.

![]() | From Top Gear : An Alfa Romeo is bought : - when you have carefully considered all the pros and cons - and you consider the Golf to be the best choice. A bit dull, but objectively the best car given a certain budget - and on your way to the Golf - garage ... you stop at the Alfa garage to have a one last glimpse at what you will supposedly be missing ... and buy the Alfa ![]()

![]() | I drove Astar's Alfa 147 for 5 hours (Cebit 2004), and I wasn't really fond of it. It does have the best looks, but QC is poor and the cheapest diesel version was not fun to drive at all. It 'll be a very hard choice between the Astra and the Golf. Much depends on which garage will give me the best conditions.

![]() | Astra is uke:I've driven with an Astra for 9 months and seeing it replaced with a Golf was like a gift send from heaven. the fact that the Astra had 70pk and the Golf 150pk is not the only reason why I liked the change. the Astra was not good at cornering and no matter how new the tires were, I never felt safe when it was raining, sliding all over the place, much like with my current Citroen C3 uke: they are currently RENTING the C3 on monthly basis, which costs about as much as LEASING an Audi A4; nice going!

i drove the verry old one ('94) and now the newest one (which isn't 9 months on the market allready) and both were quite good. cornering goes quite good (abs only "helped" me once, a bit too reckless :s) looks are taste but irl its much more nicer.

![]() | I would go for the astra... for many reasons: first: I think it looks great second: the motor is powerfull enough (nyway the most powerfull of the 4) third: I heard my 'garagist' say that you can break easily into some alfa romeo's. just give a firm punch on the door and the door is loose, and you don't want that to happen, do you? fourth: I think 5 doors is better than 3 doors. It's much easier to get out the back with 5 doors (how logical) fifth: the new opel motors (I thought the astra had the 'same' as the corsa) have a REALLY REALLY 'laag verbruik' sixth: a golf is just a golf, there are 10000+ golfs in belgium (I don't know I'm just quessing), but the point is, you don't want to park your car in a underground parking and never find it again, because all cars are golfs + you pay alot more for the nameseventh: I don't like the looks of the audi.

![]() | I've driven an older one; it sucked donkey balls, driven with one from '00 also and same sucky experience; I would never consider Opel if you have VW or Audi as aditional choices, even Alfa is better then Opel ![]()
