BAH, no money for upgrade now :(

My mountainbike valued at 1500euro got stolen today.

Groenplaats, near the taxistand, on a day like this like 10 000 walk by, not to mention the taxi's and buses.

Locked with 3 different locks. One for my frame, 1 for my wheels, with a steel cable attached to the third lock. And that one is an Abus Granite lock.

I tried to 'dremel' it to test, only paint came of, the people who stole it must have used some sort of 'lasbrander'. I don't understand how the could fix that at that place.

Abus locks can be opened by sparying LN2 on the lock and then using a large hammer to fracture the locking mechanism.

had my bike stolen also, it also had Abus lock.

jmke is absolutly right, but i don't thin it's ln² but something like it.

when i lived in antwerpen(berchem) i left my bike plenty unlocked and nobody stole it^^

i guess they are afraid.

here is a little story:
my father and i went to the "ardennen "once on friday.
there was a bike at the cultural centrum also with 3 locks attached. we came back at sunday and there was only the frontwheel left :^D

with so many people around you just can't bring a gas cutter. what was your bike attached to?

you don't know antwerp,

they steal people's cellphone when there calling. it was for UGC and yes i was shocked and nobody moved except the owner
nobody care's about a bike that gets stolen;)

even seen a guy get beaten up in amsterdam city's..

everybody just stood and did like they didnt see it...
while they run away with his celler and creditcard..

I heard from somebody that a few black guys (don't start pissing about racism) just asked some guys cell phone and wallet or they would beat him.
The guy asked them to give him at least his ID card and they just gave it.

And for bikes, make shure you have them marked w/ your ID nr. (in Be you can have that done for free at the local police station).
