x800pro vivo @ xt pe acting up
 

I have a bit of a problem with my asus x800 pro vivo:


We did a dry ice run a little more then a week ago and already then the card started to act up at the end, most likely due to condensation forming.

when I came home, I had small discolored stripes when windows was loading and on the desktop and major tearing in games.


a few hours in the oven seemed to have solved the problem, leading me to believe that it was indeed due to moist residue invisible to the naked eye.

so, things were fine for about a week but now i decided to change the dfi dothan board for a p4c800 + adapter and now the problems are back?!? :stick:


here are some pictures, 1 at stock windows resolution, the stripes apear wherever I move my mouse, and 1 at 1024*768 16bit where 4 strokes become visible: 2 with stripes and 2 free of stripes. I don't know how things are rendered but I would think that it might be the unlocked pipelines that are posing the problem?

undo the mod and try again ?

maybe some water has been stuck under the rammodules, not easy to clean, not even in the oven.
try to blow it out with compressed air.
