Default Question with AMD Athlon 64 FX 53

Ok guys, this is my dilemma. I'm going to upgrade a few things on my computer this summer. One of those things is a CPU. Right now I'm running on a AMD Athlon XP 2100+ in a MSI KT3 Ultra motherboard.

I'm wondering if an AMD Athlon 64 FX 53 will been able to work with my motherboard.
Will there be any power problems? Compatibility problems?

Incase anyone is wondering what else I'm upgrading: Memory (512 MB PC-2700 DDR to about 2 Gigs PC-2700 DDR [on top of the current 512]). Graphics card (GeForce 4 Ti 4400 to a Radeon X800 XT P.E. ), and maybe a new Sound card (Creative Sound Blaster MP3+ to maybe something better and newer from Creative).

I know this is going to set me back quite a bit. (I'm not some rich ***** either)

FX53 uses different socket (939) instead of socket A, thus a new mainboard is required; I would also use pc3200 memory for optimal performance.

If you buy a mainboard based on Nforece2 250 Gb you'll have onboard soundstord, which is really good.

So what you're saying is to buy a mainboard that is based on Nforce2 250 Gb.

What is that? What's a good version for a gamer like me? If I get a new mainboard will all of my current hardware that I'm not planning on upgrading still work with it? How much is it going to set me back?

i thought the fx53 was socket 940, and later on they will bring the fx53 in socket 939 form

so you're saying that the 64 FX 53 will work with my KT3 Ultra mainboard???

Socket 939 is a good thing for me then right?

Well, now that I think about it, if I DO buy a new mother board, I'd have to worry about everything calibrating, but on the bright side, I'll have PC-3200 memory!

no, your mobo is socket A (don't ask me what number)

i'm not sure with how things are now but you used to need registered (ecc) memory for the FX's and opteron's

Registered memory is not as fast or as good as UNregistered memory, right?

How do I find out if mine is or is not registered?

Sandra Standard? I have that if that helps at all.

Registered memory is only needed with socket 940 CPU's.
