Default poor audio on MSI NF3 250GB

I'm having some audio problems with my MSI K8N, and NF3 250gb chipset powered A64 board.

The RealTek ALC850 (7.1ch) performs ok when mediocre computerhifi is connected (well duh), but it's just horrible when using a high quality headphone. Too much random hiss and clicks or just plain static to enjoy an audio cd.

What could be interfering with my audio? Any hints&tricks to reduce static?

True, true. I don't have these problems with an old Sb Live! 5.1 card. The soundstorm of an NF2 board is indeed better, but my Chaintech nf2 still has clicks & hisses... : /

@RichBastard: I've not experienced any hiss or clicks on my MSI using a HQ headphone, be it either music , gaming or DVD playback...
