Still owns all P4 in distributed.net. Something about a hardware rotation function not being present in P4. Which greatly speeds up the codecracking.

I hope the S1000 SB chip for nforce comes out soon and that's it's a bit decent like intel CSA. I need true gigabit for my fileserver, but I find A P4 a bit of a waste (since it would be better then my main rig in most things CPU wise). Oh and I need it before OCC14.

RichBa5tard, did you find a solution for that noise afterall or did you just sell it ?

My 2.4B keeps making the high pitched hising noise all the time now. I can even hear it with my case closed, I'm going slightly mad....

@jmke: the noise didn't got worse when removing the heatsink.

biCker, I sold the P4C and replaced it with a dirt cheap tbred b @ 2.1ghz. A bit slower, but fast enough for what I use it for and doesn't make a hissing noise at all.

-edit-
piotke, is the A64 noisy at stock speed? : /

Unfortunately changing to amd is no option due to my wc setup...

If, like Piotke says, this goes for all PIV chips someone has to find out what Intel has to say about this...

I have about 8 different P4's , only one of them hisses, and only when I remove the heatsink when its running. all the others do not hiss.
