Help needed to install Zalman VF900-cu

Hi, I've bought an XFX 7900GT a while ago, and found the fan to become increasingly loud (yes, it's dust-free). According to XFX, it's a problem with the fan speed control-thingamajig in the BIOS, and while it's been fixed for all versions of the 7900GT's they produced, guess which model is the one they can't fix? Right.

So, I ordered a Zalman VF900-cu. Problem is: I'm not too hot at "advanced" computer building. So, I'm asking for help. Is there anyone in the region of Antwerp who can (and will) help me successfully install the VF900, without breaking the card?

On a related note, how do you clean thermal grease off of a CPU again? :)

some white rubbing alcohol will do fine; the install of the VF900-CU is uber easy you can do it; seriously,

in order to remove the old cooler, remove all the screws at the back, then use a hairdryer to heat up the heatsink (use gloves) until it's running very very hot; then slow nudge it until it comes of;

clean of the GPU core; take out the manual of the VF900-Cu and follow it; it takes 2-3 steps ... very easy

Last time someone said something would be "very very easy", it caught fire. :)

Rubbing alcohol as in white spirit or what? I'm really not familiar with all them chemicals.

By the way, how about if I play, like, Supreme Commander or something right before taking the heatsink off, would that heat it up sufficiently too?

Jolan, drop by donderdag or vrijdag evening and I'll do it for you in a jiffy !

I have installed that cooler for about 20 times right now :)

Let it be known that I owe Piotke.

(Didn't try it yet, though, still trying to get some form of cable management going.)

Edit: turns out that fan controller I bought is pretty much this one. The author there makes mention of adding a fan speed cable to the CPUfan-to-controller connection. How would I go about that, if I were to do it?
And on a related note, where should I stick them temp sensors? As in what's the best places to put them (top of HD, back of HD, just near HD, near CPU heatsink, between heatsink and CPU, ...)?

Edit2: zomg, even with fan down to lowest allowed voltage (through that fan controller), it's still like 10° cooler then before on maximum speed. :D
