Ghost 2003 & RAID 0
 

I have a RAID 0 setup. My entire system, OS included, is on the array. Does anyone know whether I could use Ghost 2003 to backup, will it recognize my array? If I had to re-image/restore my system will it recognize the RAID setup when restoring the image? Thanks for any info.

:hello: hello and welcome to the forums (didn't shout hello before;)), I don't know what motherboard you have or how you have set up the RAID array, but in 99% of the cases the RAID array is set hardware-matic, meaning that for the OS and also for software, the RAID array is seen as one drive, so your RAID 0 will be seen by Ghost as one large hard disk;

making an image will not be different as imaging a single HDD.

In the event your RAID 0 array fails due to mal configuration or hard drive crash, you just set up the RAID 0 array again and restore the Ghost image to it.

Thanks for the reply. I believe you may have said the "hello" before. I first posted in the Sonata II thread. Anyway, I'll keep that in mind. My hard drives, 2x74GB Raptors, on the ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe MB using the ICH5R SATA RAID 0, are fairly new and don't expect them to fail anytime soon. I just like to have a backup image just in case something else goes wrong. Thanks for the information.

taking a ghost image, even when not using RAID 0, is always a good idea, as data corruption, HDD crashes, viruses, wrong software updates can quickly screw up your entire OS.
