Feaky Geforce 4 Ti4600
 

Due to a power failure on a LAN this weekend TerAngreal lost a lot of good PC material (Abit IC7, P4 2.6C, 36gb WD Raptor !!) the last item was a GF4 Ti4600, I plugged it in a system of mine, the system starts up, the fans all spin. I don't get any image though on the monitor.

however Windows XP loads in the background and after 30secs I'm able to connect to the PC with remote desktop and everything is fine.


now if that GF4 was completely dead my mobo would not boot and let out the know BEEEEEEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP to say that there is no videocard in the system.

this doesnt happen.. what can be wrong?

We've tried connecting to the videocard with D-Sub and DVI, alas to no success.

I think that's a false asumption. in my humble opinion there could be plenty wrong with a vidcard, that the motherboard can not initially dedect, and hence boots properly.

A pitty for your GF4 Ti4600 though... i don't think it can be repared. : /

I've lent him some hardware for a backup rig, he's planning on buying a laptop now

It's very sads that those hardware died. A laptop is a good solution I think. portable, all you need is in a laptop.


BTW, DUR0N also had some problems with his laptop at the end. His pc freezed when you where downloading from his USB hard disk.

Everyone at [M] table had problems with his pc :D.

Mine only at the beginning because my old screen wasn't good enough for my ultramon setting. But it was fixed in no time.

A laptop is great indeed, but keep in mind more will go wrong with a frequently transported laptop, than a normal workstation. Don't save money and take 3y all-in warranty!

I thougt that laptops where build to transport? Explain yourself :)
