Default Direct X 9.0

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

What's the use of installing it ?

I read their faq page and i found this:
When coupled with a DirectX 9.0 compatible video card and driver, you may see a visual improvement in games that were designed with DirectX 9.0 in mind.

Improvements to DirectPlay let computers within a Windows Me or Windows XP Internet Connection Sharing network connect with each other, as well as with players elsewhere on the Internet. Users with modern UPnP network routers no longer need to configure them for DirectPlay, because DirectPlay will open and close the multiplayer gaming ports as needed.

Are there already games "with directx 9 in mind" ?
What is direct play ?

"Gunmetal Meer info

My most formal apologies Master Jmke (oh lord of the hardware)

I'll remake this in english

Gunmetal

Gunmetal is the first game that has been developed along with the new CG effects of the GeForce FX. It also supports DX 9.0, so the owners of a Radeon 9700 card can see what their card's capabale of.

The gameplay is simple, you are a transforming robot that can change from a stomping robot into a Fighter jet. What do you do? Shoot everything that moves ! Gunmetal has first appeared on XBOX and was received quite well, but now it's the time for the PC version.
