bootbale usb device

Is there a way to make my usb stick bootable?

TeuS 16th February 2004 21:17

yes. you can select an option in the BIOS to boot from an USB drive. then put the software on it

does an NF7 support booting from usb ?

TeuS 16th February 2004 21:46

piotke 16th February 2004 22:09

ervery recent asus mobo I had supported it (p4p800, p4c800, k8v)

not sure the NF7 does though.

TeuS 16th February 2004 22:22

google it...

"I bought yesturday a abit nf7, noticed 2 things no boot menu or something similar, and no option for usb boot, "

http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.c...f=n&vID=147012

"Its a great board, but if you want to boot off of USB devices, such as USB floppy drives or flash memor forget about it until Abit upgrades the bios to make this possible. I think the AN7 supports this though but it would be nice if Abit could add it to the NF7-S 2 as well, especially since it should be doable by a bios upgrade... "

bummer

my old chaintech nf2 non ultra supports booting from USB too. It gives you a nice BSOD in windows though. : )

already booted a linux kernel with it?

for school I'll have to get a Linux OS, dedicted for routing, firewall and monitoring on an USB stick. preferrably 256MB
