yes. you can select an option in the BIOS to boot from an USB drive. then put the software on it

does an NF7 support booting from usb ?

dunno. my a7n8x-deluxe does :)

ervery recent asus mobo I had supported it (p4p800, p4c800, k8v)

not sure the NF7 does though.

my old chaintech nf2 non ultra supports booting from USB too. It gives you a nice BSOD in windows though. : )

already booted a linux kernel with it?

for school I'll have to get a Linux OS, dedicted for routing, firewall and monitoring on an USB stick. preferrably 256MB

linux is no prob at all, good ehci/ohci/uhci support.
