Order placed :-)

Found a german reseller of Bios chips. Ordered an Abit NF7 one. Hope that it's indeed a corrupt bios. Nevertheless still interested to see if you can flash chips at school. Can Always come in handy (to make a couple of spare bios chips )

To overcome the NF7 trauma I found a nice MAXIMUS II FORMULA on 9lives

Uploaded some Socket A scores (which I ran before the board died):

Sempron 2300+ & 2400+:
HW: 14.1 points 2G/1S/2M cups & medals
Team: 32.3 points

2300+ was only on air and both CPU's were without the BH5 rams so improvement is possible, provided my board comes back to life.

New bios will be shipped today!

http://www.biosflash.de/index.htm

Got it with D10 mantaray XT pre-installed. Let's hope it brings my board back to life.

Jeez Bjorn no idea why you are going for Arctic Ceramique... (besides the price)

It has been proven over and over that the Gelid rocks it all. If the Ceramique is not properly applied and seated first it can cost you 100-200MHz easily.

Bad news Luc, your MSI 8800GTX is dead.
Was testing it; same voltages as mine and running AM3 @ 730/1150 when it started artifacting. Rebooted and ran AM3 with 720/1150, this time no artifacts at first, then it started discoloring and eventually locked up.
Upon reboot I saw that Vmem would only go as high as 0.99V where default it should be 1.95V so I'm guessing that the mem power circuit overheated.

I'll mod my Asus 8800GTX next, but w/o the mem mod. If that runs ok I'll mod your Asus 8800GTX.

Update: did the Vcore mod on my Asus 8800GTX. AM3 is ok at 700/1100. However in 3DM03 starts to act up at the end of GT1. If I lower to 690/1100 it starts to act up half way through GT3.
So with some airco it could maybe run at that speed. But I think that 680/1100 is the max. Note that this one before only managed to do 650/1100 (w/o vmod).
So the PoV is still the better card.

Something I now noticed with all 3 cards is that Vcore is far from stable under load: it can go from 1.41V to 1.38V and even as low as 1.36V.

Update 2: Luc's ASUS 8800GTX is now als Vcore modded. Same results as mine. Tested the card before the mod and wit wouldn't run AM3 at 675/1100. After the mod 690/1100 is no problem.
Tried 700/1100 but that started to act in the test up after a while. Cards definately need better cooling.
