a sight for sore eyes! adapting the coolermaster atcs410 for overkill gpu cooling :)

so RichBastard and me decided to casemod my case.

Emphasize the first person mentioned above :)
I played background role in the entire process

well, this saturday afternoon was the moment, so we went fot it in the sun of RichyB's backyard

whaddowewannado?
well,
the case is cool, a coolermaster 410
the cpu is okay too, doing 3500+ mhz on air, and awaiting a new prommy.
however we have an unmodded radeon 9700 pro.

Can you feel the urge?
Can you feel the tension rising?
You must feel the same thing I feel when one of my palls leaves me alone for 25 minutes with his pc.
In twenty minutes, his xp1800+ is an xp2600+ and I didn't friggin' change his cpu :)
The urge to overclock
something
anything
anytime

we had an unmodded radeon 9700pro, hercules

so we ordered some little fun things

we bought a grill (aquacomputer)

but that just ain't it, you need some fans too

two enermax 120 mm +-100cfm should do the trick :)

plug them in on rheo and that's taken care off.

well that's it.
it was fun
now I have an unmodded radeon 9700 pro and a gril an two casefans!!

we rock

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 12:34

however, we couldn't fill the afternoon with this...
so we decided to get over to cooltechnica.com and order some more :)

so we ordered a black ice extreme x2 rev2

and we saw a little gpu cooler too

can't see too muuch?
wanna know what it is?

and that neat little peltier shone in the bright afternoonsun :)

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 12:36

well, after inspection of the goods... we decided to open my case :)
that didn't work...
the case wouldn't open.

hmmm
I smell antiOCleague-boycot...

how come it don't open????

Well, screw the damn case,(!!) I've got tools you know...

sesamy open, hack and slash on the alu...

hmm evil screw...

loose screws on both side (of the case, ya morons, I'm screwed tight), blocking the opening mechanism...
whaddayamean I ain't cleaning up, whaddayamean, my mobo's die? that ain't got nothing to do with it :)

ha, everybody has seen my case before, I ain't got any unmodded pictures left :)

richy B is a pro!

hmm, looks kinda...open...

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 12:50

and polishing it up

richyB says I need to hose this off with water? why the heck?

I can just blow the DUST out and put everything back in...
mobo's don't die that easily you know ;)

well, put the fans in, screw the grill :p
and this is what we get...

rest comes later on... work to do :)

biCker 17th March 2003 12:51

more, give me more... ;)

TeuS 17th March 2003 13:03

looks sweet :o

though, 2 Titan silver 120mm's would also have looked good

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 13:12

rad posed a problem, since no screws we had were long enough and could pass thru the filled enermax fans :(

we had us a problem.

however... richBastard does not know the meaning of the word "problem".

we glue the bastard ;)

richyB got burned several times in the process. the doc was always close :)

'ouch! I burnt my friggin finger but I remain cool " :)

somebody however was intended to get hurt.

somebody always gets hurt

we victimized the little gpu :)

SO THAT'S WHY IT DON'T OVERCLOCK PAST 370!!
it has a damn shim!
who needs shims? frightful amdclockers needs shim, I don't need no shims...

away with this crap! it ain't got no use!

wait... let's use it to isolate the gpu :)
we present to you : OFFICIAL USE OF THE SHIM!

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 13:13

front and backside siliconed :) and a little minor voltmod

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 13:46

my case had to remain sober, I ain't windowing it, so the exterior had to be sober but nice, the only thing we wanted to achieve was overkill gpucooling :)

I always loved this case

it just got a bit more performing and better looking

 thanks to RichBastard for putting up with me for about ten consecutive hours, and sacrificing his night's rest be4 departing to CeBit! I guess you had about 4 hours of rest because of me :p

You rock, and as promised, all RichBastard drinks are on me for the integrity of my MultiplayerMadness presence :)

The Senile Doctor 17th March 2003 13:49

and if anyone w<ants results...
let me just say that 400 mhz on the core is just warming up...
standard clocks make the backside heatsink embedded in silicone go extremely cold :)
