Problems OC'ing E6600 on striker extreme I bought a brand new config consisting of a striker extreme with an E6600 and Urban Elite Special Ops Edition. I used a 8800 GTS as graphic card for this config. To cool everything I rely on the the Gigabyte Aurora with a Zalman CNPS9700 @ 2000 RPM. Of course I was hoping to reach the clocks everybody's bragging about. E6600 @ less than 3.2 GHz are an exception. Well, I can't get mine above 2.8 GHz. I used the 9002 & 1002 beta biosses, put the VMEM on 2.1 & 2.2, CPU Voltage @ 1.35 & 1.4 disabled the linkboost feature and the GPU XXX features. Still when I go any higher I can't even get my PC to boot. No image on my screen whatsoever... What should be done to reach these "free" perfomance gains up to 3.2 GHz & Higher? |
ram I just got 1 idea, maybe your ram timings are to tight or your your ram frequencie is to high. Try it with higher ram voltage, or looser timings. You should get it at 3.4 ghz easy. Good luck! |
2.2 VMem and SPD timings (5-5-5-15 2T) while my RAM is rated @ 4-4-4-12 1T. This is clearly abnormal, isn't it? |
strange Yes, i dont understand it, sorry i cant help you i arent an experienced overclocker..... |
It's a pity nobody in here seems to have a clear view on this topic. My board is always rock stable, but it just doesn't want to boot when I exceed certain voltages of MHz'es... I really would like to know the reason behind this. |
stable Yes you are right the striker should be stable, i dont know why you dont get any reactions....the only other thing i know it maybe can be is the psu. A bad psu low overclock i dont know what psu you got though. I got an evga 680i sli mobo same chipset and i am running it 24/7 @ 3.4ghz 8x425 @ 1.36v. Good luck... |
Add NB & SB voltage.... Copy some of his settings: http://xtremesystems.org/forums/show...hlight=striker |
Asus striker extreme is NVIDIA 680i right? Thorgal had probs getting high FSB too on this one, no matter the BIOS. |
FSB stability is sometimes very lurky at certain MHz's.. |
I have a corsair HX520 PSU, which got quite good reviews on the net... Aren't the settings a bit high on the xtremesystems website? I'll give it a try though. Also I will lower the multiplier to 8 and use 401 FSB as you suggested, Koensa... |
