Power supply problem?
 
I got my new cpu today. :^D

I've been ocing a bit when i installed it this afternoon. But I think there's something wrong with my vcore or my vcore reading.

In bios I set the vcore on 1,5375 V and when I compare it with cpu-z and abit-EQ it's lower.

So I was wondering, do I have a bad power supply (chieftech 360 watt) or are the readings bad?

probably motherboard related; the volt lines look good afaik, check your 12v line if it's too low your P4 will experience crashes.

reading from CPU-Z is not 100% trustworthy btw

my Asus P4C800 overvolts with vcore; chaintech I875 undervolts; and this is probably also the case here:)

It might get even lower when you run Prime95. Most boards have vcore below bios setting under Windows or stressed; except some Asus boards would have a bit higher. Prescott makes it even worst.:)

My IS7 board happens to be pretty close with NW; IS7 board has lower temp readings comparing to IC7. Somehow IS7 boards report temps close to Asus P4X800 series.

Watch your PWM temp goes up too.

My IS7 would do 265FSB with Northwood; I don't know if A#2's would; or limited by the CPU. I couldn't get it to run Prescott over 245FSB. The vcore fluctuates with IC7, IS7 and P4P800 deluxe boards, the same reported by L3D.

Mine would drop to 1.38 Volt from 1.5 Bios setting during stress run. Yet, it doesn't crash and pass Prime.

okay; one thing is vital here, did your IS7 do 265 with the memory running also @ 265? thereby with divider at 1:1.

you will find that the IS7 craps out near 250Mhz when memory is running at the same speed, at least that what I've experienced.

I can run my Asus P4C800 past 280Mhz FSB with memory running async; but with Corsair PC4400 which is certified to run at 275Mhz I can not get past 270Mhz stable on the Asus; same goes for other motherboards I tried

1:1 FSB speed is not the same as async max fsb speed.

Yep, the IS7 gets to 265 using 1:1 ratio; yet the same 2.4C will do 270 FSB 1:1 with IC7 - using the same Apacer 2x256 PC3200 3-4-4-8 timing.

I still have the setup. Will try some screen shots.:)

Here is the IS7 using 2.6C; but it only reached 255 FSB.

The 2.4C now with the IC7 was once in the IS7 failed to go over 265 at 1:1.:)

My 2,6 C was stable at 3320 mhz. If I put it higher it usually crashed. When I get home this afternoon I'm gonna try 260 and 265 fsb. And that still with my zalman. :o

The last time I fired up the 2.6C IS7 was July 26!!

Just turned it on. I reported at this forum back in June when Abit released a new BIOS that dropped the temp reading a few C's, which now makes it close the my P4P800's reading.:)

Anyway, this 2.6C will not go any higher than 3.32 or 255 FSB. When a processor is willing to go higher speed, very little vcore increase is needed. Anything over 1.7 V is a waste of time, as the return rate is diminishing.

However, Prescott is another animal; I keep mine at 1.5 V max.
