p4gpl-x + dothan 740 problems Hi all , I've bought myself a sparkling new asus p4gpl-x + ct479 conv + dothan 750m and 2gb of ocz 3200 memory, I have been struggling now an entire day to get it to boot above 100 fsb (while the dothan is 133), but nothing helps :(, 100 fsb seems to be rockstable, anything above 100 seems crap, even booting at 200 (for pci lock) doesnt help, clockgen + eist with lowering mp to 6 and upping fsb to 200 results in immediate freeze, i have changed my pci freq in bios to 33.33, ddr volt to 2.9, ratio to 5/4 (but memory goes good in other pc), pci-e freq to 90, cpu voltage to 1.7 in bios (1.45effective) but nothing seems to help, i have also flashed 3 other bioses (last one now is official latest one) anybody has a clue to help me out here? greets, Gert |
Those dothans are strange animals indeed :). - Did you change the jumper on the convertor? - Try booting @ 201 FSB. |
jumper is still at 100fsb, changing it to 133 doesnt help a thing, 201 fsb is not doable for the dothan at 1.45v, i think it has to do with pci-locks, but i dont understand 133 isnt even doable, also i have the another p4gpl also with a 730 and that one has the same problem also with other mem/psu/graphic card ... greets, Gert |
is that dothan a D1 version ? |
nope geen van beiden, en tis dus nen 740 en 750 met code sl7sa en sl7s9 |
Very strange problem. Both his dothans are C0. His 740 is the same as mine, and I can run perfectly 133fsb. Jumpers at 100 / 133 or not at all, no problem. |
what does it say when u plop in u normal P4? |
Mainboards work perfect. Convertors work perfect. With my cpu. His two cpu's on my mainboard, same shitthy thing. This sux, as those chips came out a batch of 20 en most of them will be ****ed.... |
final result: 2 borked cpu's :( |
