Default P4 2A still kicking hard

Done with road trip; switch this W/C system back to 100% air cooling.

P4 2A 1.6 vcore
P4P800

Idle 27C load 35C
Room 21C
Good old Intel Stock copper HSF @3000 rpm
Temp identical to SF-609 Fan Master reading

Good for another year before upgrade is needed.

1x80 intake @2000
1x80 exhaust @2000
1x80 top blower @1800
1x80 CV booster @2000

Using only PC2700 5:4 Ratio 207 Mhz 3-3-3-7, I think the memory is holding it back and I don't want to set to 266mhz at BIOS.

43 dBA 18" away

Putting in a second hard drive ........ server it becomes.

I think our measurement is off. My house does not get below 37 dBA. That is my base line to begin with.

80mm fan running @2000 doesn't make much noise; even turning them down to 1800 rpm the noise level is the same.

As far as overclocking is concern ..... it is a matter of luck or persuit in getting the "right" processor.

Back in time, an excellent article.

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...8&articID=7 8

Almost two years later, my 2A @ 3.31 GHz and XP-M 2.60 Ghz using the same % gain used the article may hold me off from any upgrade.

Very nice base line, I wish the same comparison/measurement could be used in making upgrade decision rather than keeping up with Jones's.

I'm still kicking by *** to have purchased the Prescott.

I know the A64 Winchester and SLI have been in my mind, not because I could really benefit from it. It is a matter of "I have what is acceptable" by others who are considered to be "guru" in the sports. I'm afraid of being a "misfit".

Or, am I simply just being insecure; a bigger gun will make me feel "larger".

No, I am cheap; that's all.

I'm sure if I use PC3200 the score will improve.

I'm sure if I use a kick *** vcard, the 3 years old processor will still do fine.

Actual vcore @Bios = 1.675
Intel Copper base HSF

Switching back to original all alum stock HSF @2200 rpm fan speed the sound level drop to 40 dBA.

Room temp = 23 C
System housed in a very normal low cost budget type mid-tower; all panels closed ...... safe computing environment just like working in a public office all government regulations followed

No open windows - still winter in Chicago with outside temp -14 C.

Your CHEAP sub-standard overclocker,
LaZyMaN

Mis-quoted .... s/b -4C

Just done 4 hours of GT racing Xbox with my brother. Won by 2 to 5 seconds every game we played ........ not bad for a "matured" guy.

10" steering wheel; foot pedals; shifter ...... he will look around for a "bucket seat"; nail together a nice "cockpit" in front of a 80" screen....... kick the women out of the house ..... now you are talking fun for the guys.
