modding the wavemaster

pictures say more than words

but I think I gonna say something. The idea is to replace 3 noisy 80mm fans by 1 noisy and 1 silent 120mm fan.

The back is "unmodable" only if I remake tha backplate, but I don't have inough skills to do that. So I desided to replace the 2 front fans by one enermax on low speed and in some occasions at full speed. I also bought a revoltec 120 ledfan darkbleu. thats to replace the top fan. Because the standard mounting of the topfan causes much vibration I decided to replace it by a low speed fan which is placed better.

I also gonna replace the front leds by a 10cm ccfl but thats for later.

Now I allready have replaced the front fans :D It was much more work than I expected, but the result is :o .

Enjoy

link to full casemod (changed)

btw: notice that I also have made some "sfeerbeelden" of my room. :D

"don't look at the spelling errors, but mods be free to correct them :D"

I need a fanfaurd before I continue. I also bought a 2x10cm ccfl kit but it didn't arrived yet.

you can see I'm a simpson fan :D. But you didn't saw my posters yet :D And my door. :)

the ccfl cut out seems like a cool idea :)

kr15t0f 17th October 2004 22:29

today I did this :). 2 switches for my ccfl's.

I made a scratch, but I fixed it with a small casebadge :D.

one of these days my dual ccfl 10cm kit will arrive and I can attach my ccfl's on the switches.

For the moment I quit because I need a fanguard. When I got that fanguard I can make the top cutout. Then I only need to finish some details like dustfilters etc and its finished.

BTW, I got some temps results.

before mod
---------------

CPU 48°C 100% load 1.68V 2400Mhz
front 2x titan 80mm full speed
back 1x titan 80mm full speed
top 1x titan 80mm full speed.
sidepanel 1x revoltec 80mm full speed
CPU 1x enermax 92mm full speed

VERY noisy :(

After mod
-------------

CPU 45°C 100% load 1.68V 2400Mhz
front 1x enermax 120mm 1450rpm (low speed)
back 1x titan 80mm low speed
top no fan atm
sidepanel 1x revoltec 80mm full speed (this fan is complete silent, so no need to control its speed)
CPU 1x enermax 92mm medium speed.

very silent ;) I don't think I have to mod the motherboard tray to fit 2x80mm in it :cheer:

edit: I only need to find some other place to put my hdd led

edit2: made the picture smaller

kr15t0f 26th October 2004 18:57

dual ccfl kit arrived today :cheer:

whhen I removed the plastic stuff around the ccfl I saw that there was a small wire leading from one end of the ccfl to the other. I think it would give a nice effect if I would shorten it with my case, so I beter isolate it :D . Somebody has an idea how to do that? Just with normal tape? And how should I attach it in thet front thing. Just with glue?

Sharpside 27th October 2004 17:56

With "vernis" or clear paint or somthin, dunno if it can take the heat tho :)

kr15t0f 27th October 2004 18:40

front ccfl installed effect is :o

mod is almost finished. Have to install top fan and cable the ccfl's and it's finito for the next X weeks :D
