mobo can't get passed 250fsb with ram 1:1 I, today I tried (yes tried :( ) to beat my 37sec super pi record. Because the max of my processor on 1.87V ( I don't got the courage to go higher alltough max temp is 36°C) 2630Mhz I tried today with multi 10. But for some reason my mobo doesn't want to go any higher that 250Mhz. 250Mhz is stable, 251 = no boot. I already tought it was my ram, but because I can't let my ram run asyncroon with my fsb ( = no boot) I don't know how to test it. Prolly it's not my ram, because it runs 250 at 3.12V and I allready set the voltage to 3.25V. Does somebody know how I'll be able to solve this problem? Because my mobo can do 268fsb with ram asyncroon (but for the moment I always get no boot when running the ram asyncroon). BTW, does someone know whats the max vdimm a NF7-s can detect? I think it's 3.25V, because I never get voltages over 3.25V even if I lower the resistance of my vdimm mod. |
I can only think of one thing: your NB can't take FSB's over 250Mhz 1:1. That's it. |

same can be seen on P4's too; my Asus P4C does 300FSB with dividers; only 260FSB in 1:1 |

250 on NF2 is far from bad; would not call that "f*cked" |

I hoped to get 300 with ram 1:1 ;p |

did you try with only 1 memory stick instead of trying to run 2 in dual channel? |

stick your best stick in dimm 3 ( test them seperatly ) that should give you a slight increase. tried with acpi of? there used to be a thread on XS how to tweak the nf7 but it's gone. |

Have to do a fresh install with apic off to test that ;) |

quoted from ower beloved forum owner :hello: : Device Manager -> My Computer -> Update Driver -> Will choose my own driver -> Standard PC okay, reboot, done. and to turn it back on: 2) Boot from the Win XP CD (Should apply to Win2K) 3) When you get the "Press F6 if you need to..." (the SCSI driver prompt) press F5 instead 4) In the menu that comes up shortly after, scroll up with the arrow keys and choose "ACPI processor PC" 5) Setup will ask if you want to use the Advanced System Recovery Console or install Windows XP, choose to install Windows XP 6) It will then tell you it found a previous installation on your disk and offer to repair it, choose this option (press R) 7) XP will get reinstalled with the new HAL and preserve everything else ( also quoted from that guy ) |

dunno :) |

is it apic or acpi??? because apic is on in bios, but you changed your reply and now there stands acpi??? I'm a bit confused, I have to turn of acpi??? in the thread you quoted they say that apic on is beter. apic =/= acpi, I know that. But why they talk about apic all the time in a thread about acpi??? apic is controlled bij bios??? acpi by software??? So I have to leave apic on in bios, but change acpi? |
APIC ON = ACPI Uniprocessor PC ACPI on = ACPI PC ACPI off soft = Standard PC |
255 fsb with 1 stick of ram at 3.28V 2-2-2-11 good result? Maybe give some more voltage to my mem??? |

disabling APIC will hurt performance, check the thread I linked in my post(s) above |
Quote:
2) set to standaard pc in device manager 3) instal win xp with acpi off. think I got it right this time |

And yes it's possible that the gain of fsb is so little that you will lose performance. Trail and error ;) |
