The Mike Wazowski Project

Okay, I could barely walk through the playroom. It was so bad even my kids wanted to throw stuff out. One toy that we probably got from McDonald's was a 'Mike Wazowski' from the movie, Monsters, Inc.

At first, I realize that he was the same colour as my case. Then I thought about mounting him on the front, side, top... then realized he'd be cool inside the case. I have a nice big computer window, with nothing to look at. But that's still too boring. Hmmm... I usually don't have the front of the computer facing me... so how using those LED's I ripped out of an old AT case I had. I'll put the green power LED for his eye, and the red LED in his mouth. Not only will this be cool, it'll be functional also.

This was in fact really simple. I drilled out the weird triangle shaped screws. To rip old Mike apart.

The I drilled the two holes to put the LED in for his eye and his mouth.
I took my dremel to cut two slots in the back of his legs to hide the wires.
I held it all together using a glue gun.
Here we have Mr. Wazowski working out to impress his lady friend.

As you can see, the wires won't be too obvious from the front.

I took some model paint, to paint his mouth red so the red LED wouldn't stand out so much, and gave him a bloodshot eye. I also used some green around the eye and a small circle of black to give him back a pupil. Here you can compare the original to the modified Mike.

I had already used bolts to hold in my 'microwave' case window, so taking an aluminum piece I saved from the same microwave, I drilled it for mounting to my case door. Another set of holes were made to screw the bracket into the bottom of Mike's feet.

And here we go, Mike's taking center stage in my computer case.

The eye glows really well and having the red in his mouth flicker with HD activity makes it look like he's talking.

And last but not least is a picture with the case light on. One thing I have a problem with my digital camera is light levels. But I'm still learning how to use it.
