Default maxtor hardrive windowing

i wanne make a plexi window in my Maxtor 80Gb 7200rpm Diamondmax plus 9

i made 2 window mods to some older hdd's but none of them realy worked
1st was f***** up because some dust felled on the platter
2nd was just an old one and the jumpers where off en i didn't find a way to start it

so i am ready for my 80 gb one

i have a question about something, i read something about some points you can solder the leds on the hdd.
or maybe the active led output to the leds i am going to putt in the hdd (4 bleu 3mm ultra bright leds)

so if someone knows where i can solder the wires to, be glad to tell me if you want

tnx

i'll keep you posted

be very careful when doing it. get a compressor and blow the HDD and your tools clean. use a room with as little dust as possible.

you've already managed to get it done correctly once?

i'll do the removel of the front in a plastic bag

yes i think the 2nd was well done but the hdd was so old i couldn't see it on boot(something with the jumpersettings, so its a closet stand for now

I've read a guide about this once:

They opened the hdd in the bathroom after having the hot water run for a while

The water vapor sticks to the dust in the air and falls to the floor.

then they quickly opened the hdd and placed it in a plastic sealable bag.

oke now i've got the time and the tools to make the window(brand new dremel)
i am going to cut that cover to smithereens.

about the ledstuff, just going to make a tiny hole in the cover and let the wires come true there.

its going to be 4 ultra bright blue leds i think.
white is a nice colour too but,i'll see
mhh glue them with hot glue

i'll make enough pics for a how-to
