Low price Video card with Good OCing Three weeks ago I got myself a Chaintech SA5800XT, inspired by JMke's review. With 460/770 (default 390/700) settings 63XX 3DMark03 and 172XX 3DMark01 SE. - P4 2.4C @3.2 So, I got a second one for my friend, which has the seem returns in OCing performance. Sweet;) And, this cheap old guy got a used 9600XT 128MB for a test drive; an ATI brand card that came out a year ago.:) With 600/351 (default 500/300) settings; 3DMark01 152xx; 3DMark03 42xx - AXP 2600+M 11.5x214 @2.47Ghz Both are using stock cooling; panel closed; Chill Vent II presence. The Chaintech is ~$170 and 9600XT could be had for about $100. Both are well "balance of your wallet" cards.;) |
3DMarks don't relate to real life game performance too well, that FX might end up beating the 9600XT in most games (*kuch* OpenGL *kuch*) :) |

I'm sure the 5900 will end up beating the 9600XT.;) Low price yet giving decent performance ..... Similarly, AXP-M.:D |
I prefer AXP1700 TbredB as true budget, AXP-M is more expensive, http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...113&articID=54 |
Hehehe, I have the XP1700+ still.:D It should work well with the 9600XT as "true" budget machine with a little *** kicking performance. But, I paid $95 for the 2600+ M when it first got out. |
