Default The Intel Conroe supported price saving 975X-DFI INFINITY 975X/G

Intel Core 2 Duo series will be released in July 2006 to open up the new
frontier of desktop PC performance.

This time, as we expected, Intel still follow it¡¦s own style. Intel Core 2 Duo
series comes with complete different platform compared with the Pentium 4
series.

Except new Intel 965 chipset, 975X could also support this new series by
modify M/B PCB layout. Most of major M/B manufacturers already started to
change their M/B layout to accommodate this new series of Intel processors.
In July, users should be able to see Conroe supported 975X M/B
released to retail market.

Now let us look at the product package of INFINITY 975X/G

Product accessories:

Thick user manual, driver CD, cables, RAID driver floppy, rear panel I/O Shield.

Motherboard appearance

After one year of refinement, The INFINITY series, targets on budget
solution, the material and components used on this series now come with the
taste one step closer to high-end products in the market.

The lower left hand corner

Two PCI-E x16 slots, could be used with ATI CrossFire.

The lower right hand corner:

The built-in Power&Reset button.

The South Bridge is equipped with ICH 7 chipset, and the light green squire
shape covered on the top of ICH 7 chipset is the unique DFI fan-less ceramic
chipset cooler.

The upper part of motherboard:

Equipped with 6-phase Digital PWM power design provides more stable
electric current and more stable system performance.

Rear I/O connectors:

Following the footstep of ASUS, DFI also starts to adopt eSATA interface on
rear I/O panel, external SATA storage devices now can be easily used by the
access of eSATA connector on rear I/O panel.

Introduction of BIOS options:

Genie BIOS setting page:

The main setting page for the tuning of system performance.

CPU voltage control:

The CPU VID Offset setting range is broad enough from 12.5mV to 787.5mV, equivalent to 0.0125V to 0.7875V.

And each offset interval is as small as 12.5mV only.

The CPU clock setting range from 266Mhz to 533Mhz

The lowest FSB depends on the default CPU clock setting,

If the CPU is 133 or 200 MHz, then its FSB starts from 133 or 200 MHz.

DRAM voltage

The range from 1.9V to 2.65V, with 0.05V of interval.

DDRII supports from 400, 533, 667 to 800Mhz.

DRAM timing setting options

PC Health Status page:

Shows more components¡¦ voltage than other products.

Even though under Intel Platform, there are less overclock options and smaller overclock range,

DFI still provides many overclock options to end users.

Strength:
1. Supports Conroe processors, and the price is roughly $250 U.S. dollars.

2. Equipped with 6-phase Digital PWM power design and ceramic chipset cooler.

3. Equipped with eSATA interface.

4. Broad range of CPU & DRAM voltage, and broad range of CPU clock setting.

5. Built-in Power & Reset buttons

6. The tendency to use better capacitors.

Weakness:
1. The DRAM compatibility still needs some improvement.

2. Boot up LOGO and hardware monitor utility program also need some refinement.

At the moment, most of 975X M/Bs do not support Conroe processor,
and the price range is roughly between 220 to 330 U.S. dollars.

The new release of DFI INFINITY 975X/G comes with relatively lower price
and competitive performance will certainly stir up some excitement in this
price sensitive motherboard retail market.
