Default Inspiron 1100 Challenge

Hey,

I have an inspiron 1100 (P4 2.4ghz 400mhz fsb) and I have a P4 2.8 I'd like to put in it.

Here's the challenge. The 1100 mobo is 400fsb (100mhz) and doesn't boot upon installing the 2.8ghz 533fsb (133mhz) processor.

Does anyone know of any motherboard hacks (pin connections/hidden jumpers) or CPU tweaks that can be done to marry this CPU to this laptop?

Thanks!

(Have searched and couldn't find anything)

the 2.8 533 fsb is a prescott is persume ? Not every older bord supports this core, so this won't work. At first sight.

Here is all the info off the CPU (I admit I don't know much about Intel, usually go with AMD)

Intel(M)(C)'01
Pentium(R)4
2.80GHZ/512/533
SL6PF CHINA
53438002

9345A922
0880

The main problem that I seemed to find is that the Inspiron 1100 doesn't want to boot with a 533mhz fsb cpu. Might be a BIOS limitation.

have you tried flashing the bios to the newest ?
the newest bios may add support for the other cpu.
