having fun with Prescott looks like I have a winner  done with SLK800 with no name fan @ 12v |
and it's running hot :) |
time to bring out the Prometeia :) if this would be bootable in windows, I might keep this one. |
how high does it take windows? and primestability? slap on the sp97 with a 92mm! it's a 3.0? did you ditch the northy 3.0? 73 degrees is...whoohhaaaaaaoooooott maybe 4.5 with a prommy... however, it still won't beat a 2.7 ghz a64 :( |
no HDD attached, so can't try it out. next week. SP94 has already a 92mm fan on it, but it's mounted on my Northwood :) |
you kept both, I see. |
yep, wanted to sell this Prescott, but I'm going to play with it first :) would a reinstall be needed if I change the P4C800 to IC7-Max3 ? you did that already no ? |
nope, not needed afaik |
no reinstall, went like a charm. never any problems |
it has the same chip, so I would be possible. maybe I'll try it out. thx. |
as long as it find the WinXP install you're all set, don't try to mix SATA/PATA though (Pata on P4C800 and then connect on SATA @ IC7 .. won't work) |
HDD is SATA @ P4C800, no problems there. gona try it out without mounting the mobo in the case first :) |
hmmm... let me know how it works out, never switched mobo's with a SATA HDD. |
just biossettings that need to be ok |
4.1 Ghz on air is nice, would be like 4.4 or even more with prommy. But isn't prescott much slower ? |
it's about the same thing, some tests slower, others faster |
on super PI it's faster, in 3D it's slower. looks like the IC7-Max3 stressed the memory more then on my P4C800. ran in some troubles on high fsb speeds beyond 260 fsb ? max I could do was 3.900 super PI-Sysoft-PC mark 04 stable. no 3D, because I dind't install the drivers for that Ti4200. don't look at the vcore, it can work on much lower vcore. |
well, just have to wait for the installation of the entire rig, and then we'll see just how much slower in 3dmark |

damn, my PC4200 wasn't working to good with the abit, now I need some good BH5 to test this baby to the max :( Calantak to the rescue ? :D |
nope, not for today. setup looks like this : :D |
two sticks of 256 mb in my workrig 200 2 2 2 11 at 2.8 volts, and not coming out, two sticks of bh 5 in my girlfriends rig at 200 2-2-2-11 2.8 volts. they are not coming out of there :) |
 I sold mine to Piotke. stupid, stupid, stupid.... |
exellent sticks ! :) they rule ! |
sell them back to me ? please ? |
sorry, I like them too much. |
It must be hitting close to 180-200 Watts with 1.68 Vcore. I dare not get mine over 1.50 volt. ;-) |
180-200Watts aircooled? :wtf: |
At 1.50 Volt 3.5Ghz my 2.8E hits 136 Watts based on Sandra reporting; I assume his must be close to 180-200 with 1.68 volt. Until he gets it to Primestable; right now he is enjoying it.:grr: |
fun goes on :) prometeia can't get this CPU below 0°, so this is the end. |
how stable is 4.2ghz? |
4.2 is SuperPi-sisoft stable,... 4278 isn't. only my ram can't get that high, so no good benchmarks. ram was on 5:4. |
PC4400 could get to 285 using relaxed timings and high voltage :) |
That's real GOOD.:klap: How do you feel? Eccentric On top of the world Simply wonderful Happy Sense of accomplishment Grateful Appreciative Untouchable All the above:feesten: |
ok, maybe, but I'm not going buy other ram. on my P4C800 this ram did 278mhz superPI 1:1 and now it isn't possible on the Abit. not even 270 is stable. have a look at this : lazyman, I'm feeling old, you forgot that one :) the PIV Northwood hasn't even run one day on 3.0Ghz, same for the R9800Pro. the X800Pro will have the same treatment, I'm a veteran :) |
so that means : no improvement on 3d... coz probably at 4.2 , even with 1:1 ram it'd be slower then the 4.0 ghz northy my northy will go on another halfyear :) |
Gamer, Excellent numbers, nevertheless. I found the Prescott does better in DVD copy than Northy; otherwise, I don't "FEEL" the "SPEED". It's not like driving a V10 Viper versus a tweaked Camero with Vette engine. The V10 pushes you back starting at 1500 rpm all the way to 5,000. It shows the Prescott can be Oc'ed better than Northy. I could push mine to 3.7Ghz but the mother is HOOOOT, yet stable. For everyday use, I leave it at 3.5. :^) Should do a review on "Having fun with Prescott". |
I was thinking about buying one of those cheap 2.4Ghz Prescotts, they overclock like mad and cost only 128 euro. Then again, for less than 40 euro more one can buy a A64 2800+, which is faster and produces way less heat. Hard choice, but i guess the prescott would be more fun. :) |
