GSkill PC4400 1GB FC 2.5-4-4-8 1T: new DDR600 budget RAM?

Finally there is some interesting budget TCCD out now!
G.SKILL has released some new stuff, and finally with heatspreader. Looks very pretty. This RAM is based on the Samsung TCCD memory IC, which have great overclock capabilities.

The specifications:

* Package : 1024MB kit (2x512MB) dual channel pack
* IC Spec : Samsung
* CAS Latency : 2.5-4-4-8 (PC4400)
* Test Voltage : 2.7~2.9 V
* PCB Board : 6 Layers PCB
* Speed : DDR 550 MHz (PC4400)
* Type : 184-pin DDR SDRAM
* Error Checking : Non-ECC
* Registered/Unbuffered : Unbuffered
* Quality Control : Comprehensive rigorously tested in pair at dual channel environment
* Warranty : Lifetime

Tested voltages 2.7 ~ 2.9v, plenty of OC work!

Let's see how it perform on stock rated speeds:

Now some overclock sessions. First I tried using 2.5-3-3-6 with 2.65v stock voltage.

Very stable, no problems at all.

DDR600 2.5-4-3-6 1T stable

Awesome stuff, only 2.8v

I only can say this is some interesting stuff and looks good on your casemod too. This DDR600 capable RAM is very fast icw Athlon 64 platforms.

why the "and finally with heatspreader" ?

HS has been proven to be useless.. if it is a budget product it should be sold with fluff

This is the first extreme series with Heatspreader.
HS is indeed useless for cooling solution, but looks better :)

This will be under 200USD RAM, pretty interesting I think.

do you get handpicked samples?

I've had 2 sets of tccd now, (centon & gskill) and neither of them manage to do 300mhz 1T DC at respectable timings on a neo2

secondly, not that it matters to me, just out of curiosity but is it really tccd? or is it tcc5?

Gskill does not have any customer service or support at all. 5 emails with not one return from the so called tech engineer who happens to carry a titlle of marketing director. :spank:

These are not handpicked if i'm correct. I don't know.

These chips have Samsung TCCD.

From May 18th :D

Not really needed the support; simply put the 2 sticks did not perform to rated speed. I've been in micro chip manufacturing for 10 years .... yes with "white room" operations and understand electronics a little bit ;)

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...&articID=3 22

What concerns me was Gskill's inability to communicate with customers in the U.S. ; the memory stick performance not to rated speed is not as important as we all have bad days at times.

If you have anything to say/ask about support/general question, please mail me. Please leave this topic on-topic about PC4400 1GB FC.

Since G.Skill International Enterprise launched the F1-4400DSU2-1GBFC, many users ask us which memory chipset we used for the module through many medias.

Here, we would like to clarify this point. As G.Skill products are gurantee for the specification not memory chipset, we would use Samsung TCCD or TCC5 in FC seriesdues to the source supply issue.
Hence, heat spreader is used.
