Re: GeForce Fx 5200 Ultimate- nvflash problem

what you're trying to say is?

you did a bad flash.
Your graka doesn't work anymore.
You tried to flash the AGP card while ussing a pci graka.

Maybe you should try to blind flash your card. Use the pci card to make a floppy with a working bios. Shut down your pc (duh) Remove the PCI card and put in the fx5200.
Now you have to flash your fx5200 blind, this means that you got to type all the commands to flash your graka, without seeing it on your screen.

It's hard, so first make a good planning.
- You have to know exactly what you got to type for flashing your graka.
- Give your bios on your floppy a simple name, because you have to type it without seeing it on your screen.

After that I think (hope) your graka is working again.

instead of typing everything blind; make a batchfile?

Didn't explain it because I don't know how to do that ;)

Maybe you can explain it, it will make work much easier for him.

If you can see the message " no Nvidia adapter found" then your graka works.
If your graka didn't work you wouldn't see anything.

jmke 4th November 2004 09:12

uhm.. he sees the message when using the PCI card.. read kristof:p

If u use the pci card with the batchfile I think nvflash wants to flash the pci card.

adam-78 4th November 2004 09:31

I remove pci card when i use a batchfile.
The screen is black. nvflash did'n write old bios

ps sorry for my english

Then how can you see the message (NO NVIDIA ADAPTER FOUND)???

adam-78 4th November 2004 09:44

nvflash is gives two beeps then stop- same is when i use a pci card.
For example:PCI card in use "nvflash.exe -5 -6 -f xxx.rom" then 2 beeps and message "NO NVIDIA....."
When I PCI card removed (the screen is black) I type "nvflash.exe -5 -6 -f xxx.rom" then 2 beeps and possible that is NO NVIDIA....."

hmm, and than you reboot your pc after that. I don't know how long it takes for flashing a bios, but maybe you should leave your pc on after the beeps for a few minutes.

edit: try "nvflash -f name.rom -2 -p -u"

adam-78 4th November 2004 09:55

2 beeps and that's all.
I leave my pc on after the beeps and nothing happens.

strange, even with the command I typed in red.

adam-78 4th November 2004 10:55

PCI card in use: "nvflash -f name.rom -2 -p -u" then [enter]
....message
"DISPLAY ADAPTER OVERRIDE NOT ALLOWED FOR WRITE OPERATIONS"

jmke 4th November 2004 10:57

try it without the PCI card, drop the nvflash -f name.rom -2 -p -u command in a batch file

adam-78 4th November 2004 11:16

jmke says: "try it without the PCI card, drop the nvflash -f name.rom -2 -p -u command in a batch file"

I made this...and nothing happens

kr15t0f 4th November 2004 11:27

strange, with what kind of bios you wanted to flash in the first place. I know that there are some bioses wich increase the voltage of your core and mem, maybe the settings of the new bios where to high and you broke your card. ( but not very likely)

But if it was just a wrong flash I think you'll be able to fix it, but I find it very weird that all the stuff we told you didn't work.

adam-78 5th November 2004 17:50

"nvflash -f xxx.rom -u -p -o2" = "nvflash -f xxx.rom -u -p -2"
Because "nvflash -f xxx.rom -u -p -2" don't work

Parameter "2" is this same what "o2"
