too bad its a sucky venice

3DMarks don't mean nothing anymore to me; they don't relate to real performance; sorry ;)
in the 3DMark2001SE time the scored was quite representative for in-game performance (compared to the then current games); but since 3DMark03.. no longer.

comparison of Stock 7800GTX in HL2/Doom3 at high resolution with FSAA/FA at max versus the "insane" OC'ed settings is 1000000 times more informational... in my humble opinion :)

Gothrek 16th December 2005 00:37

i agree with you

but its a fun benchmark imo

jmke 16th December 2005 00:39

fun.. well.. depends. The end result with a Doom3 test would be more impressive.. no?

with 3DMark your increasing a number which does not stand for anything..

jort 16th December 2005 00:41

it saids nr2 or nr1 :D

same like gaming, i enjoyed gaming but thats over now. didn't game for 1year now.

Sometimes i like too frag something, but then its time to do some phase-change:D

jmke 16th December 2005 00:44

I'm not saying you should GAME, I'm saying a GAME test (Doom 3 has nifty build in benchmark which will tax the GPU), will be more "impressive" as a 3dMark number; and will also be more relative to the "real world gaming"

if people read that your card delivers 12000 3dmarks up from the default 8000; what does that mean? what is a 3000 "3dmark" increase? is that good? bad? I don't know.. you do, because you've analyzed the whole 3dmark proggy.

jort 16th December 2005 00:46

No offence taken, it was just for info :D

i agree, mhh maybe install farcry on the harddrive. i'll see:D

jmke 16th December 2005 00:47

FC is harder for benching (no function there by default) but there's a tool here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=830 which makes it fast and easy

jort 16th December 2005 00:48

I know, i used it for a review of a motherboard few years back :D

Tnx for the info anyway;)
