So I got this AMD FX57 for a good price.
Good stepping. Hardware used:
- AMD Atlon64 FX57 s939 2,8GHz 1Mb l2-cache
- DFI nf4 Lanparty Ultra-D
- 2x256MB BH-5 and 2x512Mb BH-5
- s3 PCI videocard
- OCZ powerstream 600W
First test with watercooling and some ICE:
After some bad Opterons it's nice to finally have a good Atlon64.
But I was not getting much excited with this, and so the modded Prometeia got into good use:
I got this result:
That was @ Jort's place, back home I played a bit with the RAM's:
After some time I had to stop because of my system locked up. I had condens :(
To bad, I was just about to trow in my 6800GT.
...
But this is not all, I got some real ICE later that week:
Installed the tube:
I used ethanol, I got this basetemp:
Another icy shot
Dry Ice cooling is still a lot cooler then my modded Prom, but first results was not very settisfying. Only +100MHz:
Bad contact?
I let everything warm up again and the second day found myself in another round with my FX. I used aceton today, and poured more flued in the tube. Basetemp was better today:
Shot of the bios:
Temps in windows were better too, around -20°C. So, my results improved :^D

And another picture of the contact:
We (me and Cranox) had some real fun with this cpu, althrough we couldn't get the maximum out it. It isn't an animal cpu, we had HTT bus maximum @ 270MHz, so better cooling will not give us better resulst. A better container could give us better load temps and let us hit the 3,7GHz I was hoping for. We also had to deal with the RAM's not going higher then 265MHz, maybe it's the mobo... The 2x256 sticks could hit easy 270MHz in another DFI nf mobo. We also tried different BIOS, but we gained nothing.
Too bad Cranox's 7900GTX is in RMA right now and my 6800GT died in between the tests.
Until next time ;)
