cold bug & cold boot
 

Could someone here give me some more information about this.
I now that AMD does not have a cold bug.
But Intel does.

How come? :shrug: And is there information on the website of Intel and AMD about this? :)
And how does this cold boot work??

And know the last question => how do you find the cold bug? And cold boot? => Trial and Error O.o

and euhm can you kill somthing with that :-p

if the CPU is too cold; the system simply won't POST; heat it up (or wait a bit) then try again :)

R&D teams of AMD and Intel don't co-operate.

Btw, the coldbug is pretty much fixed on Gulftown.

No, this is in-house R&D and details are not shared.

In short: because of a too low temperature, certain parts of the processor fail to work. What parts exactly and why they fail is unknown.

Coldbug = processor fails to work below this temperature, even when under load. So, you decrease the temperature in windows and see when the system freezes or shuts down. Note that there can be a difference between idle and load coldbug

Coldboot = processor fails to boot below this temperature.

Nothing keeps you from making theories about the coldbug phenomenon ;).

FYI AMD always had coldbug until recent cpu's showed up.
