3DMark Tweak Guide Install 2000 Go to Windows update..install Service Pack 2 Install DX 8.1 for 2000 Install VIA 4.37 4 in 1's if you are using a VIA chipset board Install Detonator 29.40's Set your swapfile to 2.5 times your ram From the Run box...type in sysedit Go to System.ini...under the 386 section type a new line as follows : ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1 Defrag...and defrag often. I generally defrag before I shut my system down so I'm fresh on the next startup. Set your monitor for a 60Hz refresh rate for all games In 98 I got better scores with refresh at 120Hz for Dragon and Nature...all others 60Hz..but in 2000 60Hz does the trick all the way thru. Get the latest version of RivaTuner RC10.2 and use that for overclocking and doing the driver tweaks etc. Make sure you disable V-Sync. Credits go out to OPP/Mr Icee on Icrontic |
Now how would I get credit for that?? In fact I never even new about the,, Go to System.ini...under the 386 section type a new line as follows : ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1,, tweak :D Good stuff jmke, OPP |

Good man that Icee :D |
Tiny question: since WinXP is based on NT tech, (like 2K) is it possible for me to apply that tweak OPP mentionned on my winXP os ? Nowadays, my unused disksize is rather large due the fact I recently bought myself a nice Maxtor D740X 60GB (I came from Maxtor DM40 20.4GB) and now I don't have anymore complaints about lowdiskspace, so I'm interrested ! :-) |
don't think it'll help that much.. hd speed isn't important when 3dmarking, especially when you know that it's running in your ram :D |
could anyone link to the 29.40's? and if possible the via 4 in 1'ns, having problems finding them :( |
hwfaq? :D check system-drivers section |

set your swapfile to 2.5 times your amount of ram ok, but atm it's (standard settings) between 768 and 1536mb is that any good? that's about 3x my amount of ram :s but do the 2 values have to be equal? (min equals max ? ) tnx for the tweaks ! :D |
