Apple's iPhone 5 brings another Christmas turkey

@ 2013/01/03
There has been a new ad on TV which pushes Apple’s iPhone 5 and tries to create the illusion that it has a hot new feature that will make everyone want to own one.

The ad for the iPhone 5's "Do Not Disturb" features Venus and Serena Williams who are apparently having a dream playing Jeff Daniels at ping-pong.

It shows the phone's "Do Not Disturb" feature, which users can switch on to silence incoming calls, alerts, and notifications, or set up to perform such silencing during a preordained period of time. After all, Venus and Serena Williams do not want to be disturbed when they are playing such an interesting game of ping-pong.

Apple is clearly desperate to take minds away from the disastrous Apple Maps, a reason to buy an iPhone 5 because it was superior to Google Maps. The only problem was that it wasn’t and, indeed, did not work at all.

It looks like the "Do Not Disturb" feature could be broken too. According to forums at MacRumors, the feature does not switch itself off. The problems was reported in Spain, Australia and the US.

Apple has not said anything about the fault. It seems the press office has set its phones to don’t disturb too. We expect an announcement suggesting that users are holding their phones the wrong way any week now.
